Houston Inline Marathon & Fun Skate

The 2011 Houston Inline Marathon & Fun Skate is a great opportunity for inline and quad skaters of all skill levels to get together for a fun and exciting weekend of racing, casual skating, and camaraderie. Saturday will feature a casual skate tour among the beauty and landmarks within and near downtown Houston, as well as packet pickup and a pre-race social. The roadskating marathon, half-marathon, and casual Fun Skate will take place Sunday morning on beautiful Allen Parkway in the heart of Houston. Come join us!

Online Registration Closes this Monday, Oct. 31st!

Please note that online pre-registration for the 2011 Houston Inline Marathon will close at 11:59pm CDT on Monday, October 31st. After that time, the only remaining opportunity to register will be in person at Late Registration on race weekend, when entry fees for the half- and full marathon events will be $20 higher. Don't wait, register now!

Youth Discounts

Young skaters represent the future of our sport, so we feel it's important to encourage their participation in skating events. That's why we're giving skaters who will be under age 16 on race day a discount of $10 when registering for either the half- or full marathon, or $5 off for the Fun Skate. This discount is applied automatically at the time of registration; no discount code is required.

Pro Marathon Race

The Pro Marathon race will be divided into Elite (any age), Masters (age 35+), and Veterans (age 50+) divisions. Pro racers may “challenge up” by registering in a younger age division if they wish. All age divisions and both genders will start and race together; gender cross-drafting is permitted. (NOTE: Any pro age division with fewer than five entrants may be combined with another age division of the same gender.)

Open (non-Pro) Marathon and Half-Marathon

The Open Marathon and Half-Marathon events will be divided into age groups for the purpose of awards. Age groups will be: Preteen (under 13), Teen (13–19), 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, and 70+. (Preteen race entries are subject to approval.) In the Open races, all skaters will start together, and may skate and draft together regardless of age or gender.

Quad Marathon and Half-Marathon

This will be our fourth year in which skaters on “quads” (traditional roller skates) will have their own race division, with its own awards. If you're an old-school or Roller Derby skater, this is your chance to shine!

“Easy Street” Fun Skate

The non-competitive “Easy Street” Fun Skate is for individuals and families who are new to skating, or simply interested in a more casual skating experience. The Fun Skate will take place on the eastern half of the Marathon course, where the roadway is wider and more level. Participants may skate the Fun Skate route at their own pace for as long as they wish.

Race Timing

All participants will be electronically identified and timed using the AMB-IT matless timing system. All Pro racers will be issued two timing chips (one for each ankle) to ensure accurate timing results.

Race Awards

Awards will be given to the top 5 finishers of each gender in each of the Pro divisions; to the top 3 overall finishers of each gender in the Open and Quad races; and to the top 5 finishers of each gender in each age group in the Open races.
