Crested Butte Summit Hike and Half Marathon

Join us on the hike to the top of Mt. Crested Butte (12,162 feet), and raise money to provide support, education and awareness to those living with cancer. The Crested Butte Summit Hike is a fund raising event to benefit people living with cancer and their loved ones. Money raised from the hike helps recipients pay medical bills and alleviate the stress of daily living expenses during their cancer treatments. The Summit Hike is hosted by Living Journeys, a non-profit organization. In 2012, Living Journeys contributed approximately $35,000 in counseling services and financial assistance to Gunnison County residents giving with cancer.

The summit of Mt. Crested Butte is accessible to a wide variety of fitness levels and ages. Participants have the option to hike the challenging 11.5 miles (round trip), or modify the hike by riding the chair lift, which covers 2000 vertical feet in 15 minutes. From the top of the chair lift, participants hike a high alpine trail to the peak (2 miles round trip, 762 vertical feet). Everyone is encouraged to take their time, have fun and honor those whose lives have been touched by cancer.
