On a rainy October morning in 2007, my world changed forever. After a courageous 4 ½ year battle with Leukemia and all of its horrible side effects, my dad peacefully slipped out of our world and became an angel. Almost instantly, a hole grew in my heart and overflowed with pangs of grief. The days that followed were filled with never ending rain and ashen skies. On the morning of the funeral, I was walking into the church and happened to look up into the endlessly somber, gray sky. It had finally stopped raining and there was one small spot where the clouds parted and a serene brilliance shone through. I believed that was a message from my dad saying that I WOULD get through this and that he'll always be with me. Every year, on the anniversary of my dad's passing, I look up into the sky and consistently see the same serene brilliance. Whether it's in a gorgeous, blaze orange sunrise, a ray of golden sun peeking through the cloud-filled sky or the glittering sun sitting in a resplendent blue sky - it's always there, reminding me that my dad has never left me.
