Loppet Ski Club
The Loppet Ski Club groups meet one weekday evening per week (Monday 6:30 - 8 p.m. Intro group, Wednesday 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. - Fall/Winter group) and Sunday afternoons from 1 - 3 p.m. at the Theodore Wirth Chalet in Wirth Park (Fall/Winter group) or Saturday mornings at 9:00 a.m. (Introductory group). What is the difference between the Introductory Session and the Fall/Winter Program? The Introductory Program is shorter (November - Loppet) and is designed for people interested in learning basic technique and conditioning who want to prepare for a Loppet event. The Fall/Winter Program is longer (September - February) and is designed for people who want to devote more time and effort to improving their conditioning and technique for cross country skiing generally.
Introductory Session: November - Loppet
The Introductory Session meets Monday evenings from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. and Saturday mornings at 9:00 a.m. at the Theodore Wirth Chalet in Wirth Park. Participants ski the trails of Wirth Park in preparation for the City of Lakes Loppet. Starts November 2 and runs through the City of Lakes Loppet. Fall/Winter Program: September - February
The Fall/Winter Program is a more intensive ski club, focusing on improving technique and training. The group meets Wednesday evenings from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. in the fall and Sunday afternoons from 1 - 3 p.m. at the Theodore Wirth Chalet in Wirth Park. Runs from September 2 through the end of February.
Foundation Membership
The City of Lakes Nordic Ski Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that runs events, develops trails and works with Minneapolis youth on skiing and other outdoor activities like mountain biking, paddling and trail running. Support the Foundation by becoming a member. There are several levels of membership: basic (voting rights, discounts and newsletters), premium (voting rights, discounts, photo rights, discount stone grind and thermo-bag treatment, and newsletters) and business.
