Minnesota Tri Night 2010 | Triathlon Registration Software

December 10, 2010 - 3 minutes read

I still have a smile on my face from a wonderful Saturday night spent celebrating the triathlon community of Minnesota. The 2010 Minnesota Tri Night Banquet was an evening filled with meeting friends old and new, hearing great stories, and honoring some great Minnesota athletes.

This was the first year ZapEvent participated in the event and I expect it won’t be the last. From our expo table, I caught up with many of our clients who use ZapEvent for their online event registration. (In fact, 3 of the top 5 ‘Triathletes Choice Race of the Year’ finalist are ZapEvent clients.) And, I met a ton of Race Directors interested in our triathlon registration software for next year and beyond. There is just nothing more exciting to me than chatting with folks who are so passionate about what they do.

The most memorable part of the evening was listening to the Minnesota running legend Dick Beardsley. A truly amazing guy with one of the most compelling and crazy life stories you will ever hear.  I encourage you to watch his story:

At our banquet table, I had the honor of sitting with some great folks representing some very well respected events and organizations: Lake Minnetonka Triathlon, YWCA Women’s Triathlon, Trinona, Lake Waconia Triathlon, and Elsmore Aquatic.

The last part of the evening was the award presentation. The most eagerly anticipated award was the ‘Triathletes Choice Race of the Year’. Obviously, I was rooting for one of our clients to win the big honor and walking away with prize was non other than Trinona. A big congratulations goes out to Dave Schutz & team for the well deserved recognition.

All in all, the evening was a huge success. Thanks to Steve Gunther and the planning committee for all the hard work planning and executing the event. It was an honor to be a part of such a unique evening and I plan to support and participate in the years to come.
