As Minnesota’s oldest ski race, the Marine on St. Croix/O’Brien Cross-Country Ski Race is a family friendly event that has options for skiers for all ages and abilities. Area residents along with family and friends of participating skiers are welcomed to the course to create energy at the finish line.
From a recent press release:
Again this year is the 25km classic and skate races “twice around the park”. The longer distance races are great tune-ups for those skiing in the City of Lakes Loppet, Mora Vasaloppet, and American Birkebiener ski races. The 12.5km classic and skate races “once around the park” will continue to draw skiers of all abilities out to enjoy a beautiful day in William O’Brien State Park. Kid’s races, of age appropriate distances, are again in the afternoon this year when it is usually warmer, and now the kid’s races fall in line with the weekly ski meetings of the St. Croix Valley Ski Club.
In honor of long-time race participant and St. Croix Valley ski volunteer and booster we are encouraging those will wood skis, knickers and wool socks to enjoy the scenic “Bob Hagstrom Wood Ski Classic Tour”.
The first 200 adult skiers registered receive a 40th Annual Marine/O’Brien Ski Race hat. The first 50 skiers registered in the Bob Hagstrom Wood Ski Tour receive a commemorative tour ski bib sponsored by Out There Nordic Sports and Camping of Rice Lake, Wi.
St. Croix Valley Ski Club is now offering their cross country ski event registration online at ZapEvent. Click here for more details about the event. Online registration is available through January 28th, 2011.
