Comparing the fine print of online registration systems. ZapEvent vs Active.com

With a number of choices for online registration in the market place today, it’s often time-consuming to read through all the fine print and details of any Event Agreements that you are presented with.   Often it’s a lot of legal speak that most people have a hard time understanding and an even harder time staying awake to read through.

But remember like any contract, the terms are binding and often contain very important information that was not clearly presented to you on the other pages of the website.

Here’s an example from a previous Active.com customer.  Recently we have encountered a number of unhappy race directors that want to switch from Active.com to ZapEvent for their online registration but were frustrated to find out, they can’t.   In each case, they tried to close their Active.com online registration and were promptly contacted by Active.com to inform them that:

7. Term and Termination. The term of these Terms shall be for three (3) years from the Effective Date with automatic renewals for three (3) year terms thereafter, unless either party gives written notice to the other party to terminate these Terms no less than twelve (12) months prior to the expiration of the then-current term. Either party may terminate these Terms: (a) upon a material breach by the other party, if such breach is not cured within thirty (30) days following written notice to the breaching party; or (b) where the other party is subject to a filed bankruptcy petition or formal insolvency proceeding that is not dismissed within thirty (30) days.
