River City SUP Race Series
About the Event
The River City SUP Race Series targets beginner/novice stand up paddlerboarders to compete in a friendly & supportive atmoshpere. We are entusiastic about including this event in the 2014 Minnesota Star of the North Games and sharing the event with those participants. St. Cloud State University Outdoor Endeavors will provide all the SUP equipment & safety gear to participants!
There are three divisions for participants: Men's Women's & Youth (under 18). SUP racers start along shore, aside their boards, until the horn is sounded. The racers then traverse around buoys over the length of the 300 yard course back to the finish line. Each heat is 6 participants, with places 1-3 competing in sunsequent heats to participate in the finals!
Heats generally last 15-20 minutes and the overall time of the event will depend on the actual number of participants that register.
The event will occur rain or shine, but SCSU Outdoor Endeavors will reserve the right to alter the schedule or cancel the event should there be lightning or thunderstorms on the day of the event.
