Crested Butte Summit Hike

Join us on the hike to the top of Mt. Crested Butte (12,162 feet), and raise money to provide support, education and awareness to those living with cancer. The Crested Butte Summit Hike is a fund raising event to benefit people living with cancer and their loved ones. Money raised from the hike helps recipients pay medical bills and alleviate the stress of daily living expenses during their cancer treatments. The Summit Hike is hosted by Living Journeys, a non-profit organization. In 2009, Living Journeys contributed approximately $35,000 in counseling services and financial assistance The summit of Mt. Crested Butte is accessible to a wide variety of fitness levels and ages. Participants have the option to hike the challenging 11.5 miles (round trip), or modify the hike by riding the chair lift, which covers 2000 vertical feet in 15 minutes. From the top of the chair lift, participants hiike a high alpine trail to the peak (2 miles round trip, 762 vertical feet). Everyone is encouraged to take their time, have fun and honor those whose lives have been touched by cancer.

Technical Climb
Join Crested Butte Mountain Guides professional staff for a special 1-time guided technical climb up the "Guide's Ridge" to the Summit of Mount Crested Butte, as part of the Living Journeys Summit Hike.

Day of Hike Saturday, August 7th, 2010
Registration and Hike begin at 7:00am
Post-Hike Celebration: 11:30am
All activities, registration and celebration will be in the big tent at the base of the Red Lady Lift
Silent Auction items will be ready for bidding on at 7am when the hike begins
How to Participate
Registration fee for each participant is $50.00 plus $2.83 processing fee. In addition, each hiker is encouraged to raise pledges. Pledges raised by hikers are our primary source of funds, therefore we encourage every hiker to raise at least $100 in pledges to be turned in the day of the hike.

Team Registration
Consider registering as a team. Groups of friends, companies and organizations can gain visability at the hike for their team's efforts. Team registration is limited to 10 participants per team.
Incentive prizes
First 150 participants to register will receive a soft and stylish Living Journeys t-shirt!
Prizes donated from our sponsors will be awarded to the top 3 individual fund raisers and the top fundraising team.
Wear your funkiest get up because this year we'll also be giving a prize for best costume.
The Mountain
Mt. Crested Butte is situated in the heart of the West Elk Mountains in southwestern Colorado. At the summit of Mt. Crested Butte (12,162 feet) participants will get a 360 degree view of the West Elk Mountaiins, the Raggeds, the Snowmass/Maroon Bells Wilderness and the Gunnison National Forest.
