This is a standard short course duathlon: 5k run – 33k bike – 5k run. The race starts at Sartell Middle School then heads north through St. Stephen and back on River Road (County Road 1) along the Mississippi River.
As a local and state favorite, the Apple has a strong history of hosting top athletes and sent many qualifiers to World competition in 2013. In addition to having a very solid athlete group, we also pride our race on the course and volunteers that make it run smoothly. The course is challenging but well-marked, organized and scenic. Our volunteer base consists of many local athletes and families that have been a part of the race for years. We appreciate the local support from the City of Sartell, Sartell Police, Sartell Police Reserves, local public works, schools and businesses. Together we work closely to ensure a safe race.
The Sartell Apple Duathlon is sanctioned by USA Triathlon (USAT) and requires each participant to purchase his or her own one-day license or hold an annual membership in order to participate in the race. During registration, you will be directed to the USAT modal to enter your annual membership number or purchase a one-day or annual membership. For more information, please visit the USA Triathlon site. All USA Triathlon/Duathlon competitive rules will be enforced.
Minimum race age is 16 years old as of race day.
