About the Walking Deadwood Zombie Run
This is a 100% CHARITY RUN.?
The Walking Deadwood Zombie Run is a zombie infested 5k (3.1 mile) untimed run/walk with obstacles and crazy terrain that starts at the Days of ’76 Rodeo Grounds, loops through the Deadwood area, and returns to the rodeo grounds.   Throughout the course, there will be Undead Zones where Zombies have taken over.  Runners will need to get through these Zombie Zones “Alive” to survive.

The Gory Details
At the start of the course human runners will be given a flag football belt (life Belt) with flags (life lines) on it.  During the course, Zombies will try to take these flags from you. If you get to the finish line with a least 1 flag, you are a survivor.  If you have no flags at the finish line, you have died, and become the undead.
There will be spare flags (life lines) hidden throughout the course that you can find and use if you have lost all of your flags.  Hint:  It is best to run in groups to try to protect those with few flags left.
Our post-apocalypse volunteers will help direct you through the courses.  Beware; there may be a few zombies who have escaped the Zombie zones, wandering around looking for fresh food.
The day of the event, registration and check-in will start at 11:00am. T-Shirts and medals will be based on availability for anyone registering after September 5th. Event Day registration will end 15 minutes before the last wave starts.
The first wave of runners starts at 2:00pm with waves following every 10 minutes. Runners should arrive at least 30 minutes prior to his/her start time to receive flag belts.
Zombies must arrive by 1:00pm to attend a mandatory zombie meeting and be transported to your Zombie zone. Zombies who arrive late might not be able to participate.
Runners and zombies under 14 years of age must be accompanied by a paid adult for the entire event. Runners and zombies under 18 years of age MUST bring a waiver signed by a parent or guardian. Click here to view and print the waiver.
Once registered, there will be no refunds, as we will be ordering t-shirts, medals, etc. far ahead of time, and closing waves as they fill. Please plan for all types of weather. The event will only be rescheduled due to SEVERE weather that closes Black Hills area highway and interstate roads.
