Whether a serious racer, preparing for an upcoming marathon, running for fitness or just out to enjoy the day, the Trail Loppet provides a fun and fulfilling experience. The half-marathon is a perfect training run for the fall marathons. Between the hills and the trails, the Trail Loppet works different muscles and is easier on the body than the standard asphalt run on flatter roads. Plus, with its variety of scenery, the Trail Loppet is much more interesting than the standard running event .

Trail Loppet Half-Marathon:

13.1 miles on the trails and paths of Theodore Wirth Park. About 80% of the run is on dirt trails through the woods.

Trail Loppet 5K:

5 kilometer (3.1 mile) course. Starts 30 minutes after the Half Marathon, finishes adjacent to the Wirth Picnic Pavilion, wooded and hilly course.

Hoigaard's Nordic Walk:

This is an opportunity to explore the trails of Theodore Wirth Park without all the competition. The Nordic Walk is a non-competitive, un-timed walk or jog. Nordic walkers complete the same course as the Half-Marathon participants (13.1 miles, mostly on dirt or grass trails) but there will be a 10 kilometer (6.1 miles) cutoff as well. Nordic walking poles are encouraged but not required (a limited number of loaner poles will be available). All Nordic Walk participants receive a commemorative Trail Loppet t-shirt. The Nordic Walk starts at 8 a.m., one hour before the Half Marathon. Completely supported with aid stations and course marking along the way.

Loppet Run Club:

The Twin Cities first trail running based fitness club. The Training Group is geared toward preparing for 10-15 mile fall races, like the Trail Loppet Half-Marathon. Explore the trails of Theodore Wirth Park: more interesting and easier on the body than running on pavement. Training tips from experienced and knowledgeable leaders. No more long, lonely runs Train with a team. July 12th, 2010 through September 18, 2010 Meets Monday Evenings at 6:30 and Saturdays at 8 a.m.
